This fine William and Mary house, set in 265 acres of ancient deer park, was built between 1691 and 1702 for William Blathwayt, William III's Secretary at state and at war. Rooms changed little since they were furnished by Blathwayt in the Dutch style, Delft China, Dutch Paintings, and fine 17th Century textiles.1840's domestic rooms open.
Opening Times:
Park - All year except 25th December, 12:00 noon to 5:30 pm (opens at 11:00 am on days when house is open)
House & Garden - 23rd March to 3rd November, Friday to Tuesday - 12:00 noon to 5:30 pm (gardens open at 11:00 am)
Last admission 3 / 4 hour before closing or dusk if earlier.
Set in the picturesque valley of River Frome, this impressive castle hides a sinister past. Visit the chapel for medieval wall paintings & take a look into the crypt!
